How to calculate percentages
- Find X% of a number Y: multiply Y by X and divide by 100 (Y × X ÷ 100).
- Find what percent X is of Y: divide X by Y and multiply by 100.
- Find the percentage change from A to B: divide (B − A) by A and multiply by 100.
- Add percent P to a number N: multiply N by (1 + P ÷ 100).

How to calculate X% of a number?
Multiply the number by X and divide by 100. For example, 20% of 150 = 150 × 20 ÷ 100 = 30.
How to find what percent one number is of another?
Divide the part by the total and multiply by 100. For example, 25 out of 200 = 25 ÷ 200 × 100 = 12.5%.
How to calculate percentage change?
Subtract the old value from the new one, divide the result by the old value and multiply by 100. A negative result means a decrease.
What is a percentage?
A percentage is a number expressed as a fraction of 100, written with the % sign. For example, 45% means 45 out of every 100.
